Maintenance on rear wiper motor V70-XC70 2000

I bought that popular kit to repair my tail gate panel trim from falling off. I removed that panel and did the modification to it.

Before putting it back I wondered if there was any maintenance I might need to do to the rear wiper motor assembly? It was working fine the last time we used it but since I have access to it I thought it might be a good time to lube things up etc. if it's called for.

One thing that you might do is to drill two small holes in the bottom of the inner panel so that you can tighten the two torx screws that hold the latch inside the door.

I found out that my tailgate rattle was just a loose latch, it already had the repair kit installed, but I had to go through the whole process to tighten them!

The most critical part of the rear wiper is the shaft that goes through the door. Salt will get in and make it hard to turn. A good shot of oil, NOT WD40, will help to keep the shaft free and help the motor from working too hard.
The other interior fittings need nothing.

BTW, when putting the panel back on, I put the plastic pins into the slots under the window, then hit the panel home with the heel of my hand.
