check engine light on S70 2000

my 1999 S70 fwd "check engine" light just popped on, and I checked all fluids, and everything seems to be fine.

the car has about 67000 miles, and recently was in for normal mileage service (a couple of months ago).

how serious is this?

When that light comes on, the engines computer stores an OBD2 'error code'. Without knowing the stored code, its just a guess as to what is wrong. If there is an AutoZone near you, take your car and have them read the code for you free with a hand held reader. Then report back here what the code is for further diagnosis. The connection for the OBD2 hook up is located in the storage area between the front seats.
