Turn Signal Bulb Replacement S60 2001

Group:
'01 S60 2.4T
My LF turn signal bulb or socket is intermittantly bad.
I get rapid flashing.
I know it is the front and that it is a grounding problem

The big problem is that while the owners manual shows how to unscrew the holder, they do not allow for the airbox being in the way.
I cannot reach the bulb holder and cannot remove the airbox because I don't know how.

How does a person change the LF turn signal bulb?

At Borton Volvo in Minneapolis, the service schedulers change the bulbs for free! Labor, that is. You pay through the nose for 2 bulbs.

The airbox on the V70 is quite easy. After lifting off the top, the bottom has 2 prongs on the engine side and one on the fender end. Just lift up and away from the fender.

Hi, Klaus.

I see you're very knowledgable about the body parts. I don't suppose you know anything about the front grille, do you?

I bought my daughter a nice grille badge, the kind that is mounted by a bolt (stud) that passes through a slot in the grille and that has to be tightened down by a nut and washer on the back side.

Well, she has a 2007 S60, and I can't figure out how to reach behind the grille to put a wrench on a nut and washer. There is just no opening to reach through!

So I'm hoping there's a way to release the grille to pull it out the front way -- but I also can't see any release.

Do you happen to know how to pull out the front grille?

Thanks, in advance.

Ken

I did that to my V70, but I have never opened a hood on the 60 series.

Grille removal S60 2001

re: "...I did that to my V70, but I have never opened a hood on the 60 series...."

...and I've never opened a V70 :-)

Anyway, suppose you wanted to remove the grille on your V70 -- how would you do it? I'm thinking that maybe there is something similar, some snap or latch of somekind that I haven't noticed, or felt with my fingers as I've probed around.

Anyway, I'm willing to try if you can tell me the V70's "secret" -- nothing to lose to try.

Thanks.

Ken

the 850/70 grill is part of the hood, so that it goes airborne when you lift the hood. Easy access then.
When removing the V70 grill, there are 4 plastic tabs that get pushed back fron 4 plastic prongs. Once the plastic tabs are off, the grill almost falls off.

Thanks for the info!
I have seen the prongs but they looked permanent.
There are four prongs on each "stud" and I saw no way to compress them with one hand. I will look again.
