Suggestions wanted on timing belt change 01 V70 T5

I have a 2001 V70 T5 with about 85000 miles on it. From listening to the forums I should be thinking of changing out the timing belt now instead of waiting for the scheduled time. I've read many threads, and in checking Bay 13, it looked like a rather easy job. Well that was until I started looking up the parts I'd like to replace besides the timing belt itself. It seems most of what I read was for earlier models, so now I'm not so confident! Could someone recommend the parts I should replace while in there, and if this model is within the same capabilities of earlier models that used the hydraulic powered tensioner? Is there a "how to" like the Bay 13 for the 850 for my newer V70? I'd also be interested in comments on recommended spark plugs for this car. FCP Groton showed a set of Volvo plugs at $37 and Bosch platinum at less than $3 each. Why should I go with the more expensive? What have other members used that works well in this car? Thanks an advance!

Your intuition is correct, the tensioner is the weak part. Change the TB and tensioner. This is a guide to the S40, but very good pics nonetheless:

The Volvo plugs last much longer than the Bosh plugs. It is nice to put some anti-sieze on the threads and forget about them.

      Klaus,

Thanks for the link and your opinion on the spark plugs. With a 30K recommended change out, are you suggesting the Volvo Plugs may go longer that the Bosch Platium? Not that a savings of $25 matters all that much in the big scheme of things, but why pay for something you don't get a return on? Again THANK YOU, for your timely input. Jerry

I'm pushing 50K on my Volvo plugs, the new ones are on the work bench. With 153K, I also got new wires, cap, and rotor. My "next" tune up will be at 200K.
