V70 rear gate liner/panel V70-XC70

My 1998 V70 has a problem with the rear gate. When you lift it to the open position the plastic liner sags down. The black plastic inserts designed to push into the corresponding holes in the liner have been renewed. On inspection, two off the holes these male inserts plug into to grip the liner, are cracked and will not grip.
Any solution?
Thanks in advance...

PS, had same problem with my '91 740 wagon. But it was traded in before I was forced to address the problem.
