Wiper does not move at all . I had a friend listen while I switched the motor on and off. He heard a clicking sound but motor did not operate.
What needs to be done ?

Thanks KlausC for the advise but I decided to remove the wiper motor bracket, disconnect the arm from the gear housing and drive shaft. I then removed the cir clip and washer form the wiper shaft.I applied some heat from a small propane torch and pushed out the frozen shaft from the clogged up shaft and bearing. I then ran a pin with some emery cloth through the brass bushing and cleaned it. I then applied never seize to the shaft and to the bushing, reassembled it and bolted the bracket back in place. When I turned the switch on it worked like new. I had to adjust the wiper position again then all was well.
I hope this experience can be of help to some of us Volvo freaks.
Thanks so much for being there for us all !!!

Most likely corrosion. Remove the tailgate cover, disconnect the motor from the arm, spray the inside and outside of the stem that goes through the door and move the blade until it moves freely.
Do not run the motor with it not connected to the wiper assembly, the motor has electronic stops which may be damaged.
