Faulty alarm siren? S40-V40 2004

Hi

I'm having an issue with my V40 alarm. The siren will go on for no apparent reason. And yes, I've checked all the door, bonnet and tailgate sensors and have even deactivated the internal sensor.

I've checked for fault codes at the dealer and the codes are saying that the siren is at fault. A new siren is shockingly very expensive.

There are suggestions on the web that the issue could be due to an internal alarm battery which some suggest resides in the siren?? Unfortunately, I can't verify this and I don't have a clue where is this internal battery actually located. Does it actually exist?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

    Faulty alarm siren? S40-V40 2004

I'm having a similar problem. I haven't been to the dealer to have it checked, but I found this post on line. Most every post I've found seems to indicate a problem with the siren module. See this post for details on how to remove/replace siren. http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17479
