engine stop leak products (oil)

Folks, what's the verdict on engine stop leak oil additives?

I know they're a temporary fix, but are they safe?

I read somewhere that the products used to swell the seals can also soften them and cause them dry out/shrink even worse later. I also read they can clog oil passageways inside the engine.

So what's the real deal?

Most of those products were designed for iron block engines with low rpms, think GM and Ford back in the old days.
You have an aluminum alloy block with high heat and high rpms.
