screws on T/stat housing 850 1994

Klaus and Ozark, thanks for the tips on the coolant flush.
I tried to be careful on removing the T/stat screws .
One came out easy ,the other I stripped.
I saw the post about putting 2 nuts on the stub to extract the bolt.
Is that the best way, also how about using an easy out? Thanks.

A long time ago I tried to change myself and stripped the torx out because I couldn't get a solid fit on the bolt because the fuel lines were in the way. I took it to the dealer and let them deal with it.....If I tried it again I would spray the bolts for about a week with PB blaster and remove the fuel rail....

I got lucky doing mine, only one hard screw which slowly came loose. My T40 drive took a beating and needs to be replaced!
Easyout as the last resort. And be slow and careful, you don't want to hurt the housing.

If you can double nut it go that route - tighten both nuts together as tight as you can and then try to grab the lower nut with a wrench and ease it out. My experience with easy outs is that they are less than easy.

I still have a crater in my right calf from when I tried to drill out something for an easy out on the exhaust manifold or the head on an old International Scout that I had. The drill slipped and it felt so good as I drilled through my leg that I impulsively squeezed the trigger on the drill again.
