Seat Heater V70-XC70

Passenger side seat heater has a short on the right side of the seat (of course the most used part of the seat). I have pulled the leather seat cover off to investigate and the wire is seperated. Is there a way to repair this wire? Do I have to replace the bottom seat cushion, since the seat heater appears to be woven into the seat foam?

The heater element should not be sewn into the foam, but is probably "melted" into it a little. You should be able to solder the wire back. Slip some folded tin foil under the solder point, or a cut up beer can.

Though my experiences in seat disassembly have been with 850 seats, I think the early v70 ones are very similar. What year is your car? Seeing as those wires never get too hot, I'd probably try soldering them together before I change an entire cushion. Also, on the 850 anyways, the wire grid is a separate piece from the foam bottom. They may have changed that though.

Good luck,
