Just a curious question.

When I'm driving along after 45mph and the overdrive has kicked in, if I (very) lightly press the brake pedal, my RPM's go up about 200 RPM's from where they are and if I let the pedal go they go back down.

I definitely feel like the car is compensating for my depression of the brake pedal but why would it do that? It doesn't make sense.

Depending on the year, the torque converter will unlock when you press the brake. Completely normal.
