help: intake hose, please advise non-turbo 850 1996

Hello-

I finally got my pcv and rms situation solved and am on a road trip. w/o any manuals i can't remember if there is a cold-intake hose on the non-turbo 850s running from the air filter to the radiator. in any event, i don't see one in my current setup and am hoping it's not on some shop floor. an image search reveals a non-turbo engine w/ one, leaving me scratching my head. this is a silly anatomy question, but just to ease my mind (or perhaps cause panic), is there such a hose on the naturally aspirated 850s? i don't have my haynes manual, etc. i don't have the thinner hose attached to the air box and am wondering if this is an artifact of someone working on the pcv and pulling apart everything under the manifold. Since it looks like the cold-air hose to me, what is the part needed / part number?

Just a little confused. The cold air intake hose goes from the top portion of the radiator (covers up the tranny dipstick) to the lower part of the air filter box. Your pic shows one in place. There is also supposed to be a pre heated hose coming from the exhaust manifold to supply warmer air for cold starts. The one inch hose goes to the air pump from the air cleaner.

      Hi Klaus,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the confusion. This is what is missing:

Is this the hose that goes to the cold start fan? i.e., the one next to the fat accordion-like intake hose? And it it's gone, how much of a problem?

      Thanks.
      Paul

That hose goes to the air pump, which is used for a couple of minutes after a cold start. If it is missing, the hole in the air cleaner must be plugged so that dirty air does not get into the intake.
The air pump is just in front of the left wheel, unless someone removed that also :)

If it fits on both ends. Any curves could be reinforced with lengths of wire from a coat hanger taped into place to keep it from kinking. I suspect the dealer would charge a small bundle, but always worth asking.

If there are any pick&pull yards, that would be my choice.
