Re: seat heater replacement question ALL

I had heatd seat problem but haven't replaced heat pad - my problem was fairly common from what I understand. Same problem on my '93 and '94. The wire connector to the heated pad can easiily be pulled loose. Wires are relativily small and as I recall consist of a red and a white that attach about in the middle under the seat. Hard to get to but better then taking seat apart. I used standard neddle nosed pilers to reach into the small opening to firmly plug in connection. Check for loose wres first!

Note - at first I asked dealer about this and after they 'looked' at it, they wanted to replace pad and thermostat control unit for only a small, three figure fee. Very glad I decided to look at myself first!

Re: seat heater replacement question ALL

thanks for the tip, Ken- I'm pretty sure my heater element is cooked as I almost caught my butt on fire this summer. I had just cleaned and washed my interior and inadvertently turned on the driver's side seat heater. When I started the car and drove off to the store, I felt what I thought was a wasp sting under by butt and practically leapt out of the car! Turns out it was the seat heater element and a small plume of smoke was coming out of the seat. Needless to say, I immediately disconnected the heater!
