Interested in a 2001 S80 S80 2001

So there's an S80 about 15 miles from me.
The thing is; it needs a lot of work.
The common things, sunroof doesn't work, a window is stuck, oil leak (I'm scared about this one)
But it has another problem, if you take your foot of the gas, the RPM will go down past 1000. He says Volvo told him it's a few cylinders not working (coils???)
Overall, he wants $1200, but accepts offers. I don't mind doing this work myself, if I get the car, I'm in no rush to drive it.
What do you think?

I am not a mechanic, but we have a 2000 S80 t6 and the idle has always been around 650rpms and coasting down hills etc... it is not much higher than that at lower speeds... of course on the higher it's much higher.

If by cylinders they mean it is a valve problem, you'll have to have the engine rebuilt. Oil leaks can be very expensive/difficult to fix, too. Unless you want to rebuild an engine and the rest of the car is in excellent condition, I would say this is too much to pay.

He has had the few cylinder problems fixed.
But now the RPMs go down when you take your foot off.
      Trans related?

"RPM's tend to drop when you take your foot off the gas"
that's the symptom, does that sound like a valve problem?

Usually a dirty idle air control or throttle body.

The sunroof doesn't work? There is a "module"/computer that runs the SR and a few other things, replacing that costs a lot of money.

Have a good mechanic check out the car, your cost at a dealer = $100 and might be a tie breaker. Just remember, the dealers list EVERYTHING that could be wrong, not things that must be fixed.

I am probably one of the least experienced/qualified people here so I'll let someone who knows more answer that!

We did have a valve blow on our 850 wagon (after 365k miles) but the rough running and lack of power was pretty obvious.
