Anyone having door panel insert problems? V70-XC70 1998

The insert's on my mother's V70 started to pull away from the backing recently. Her V70 is a base model, so the inserts are soft vinyl. The dealer seemed to know the problem, as they finished my sentence before I could. They replaced them with hard plastic inserts, which I think cheapen the interior. Has anyone else seen this problem? Seems odd to me...

    yes, my leather pulled away a couple of times. Was under warr. at the time

    In most instances this should be covered by "goodwill" warranty even if your car is past 50K. Volvo has acknowledged this as a design defect and has verbally agreed ti fix mine.....but you have to press the issue.

    This has been a problem with SV70s...since about 1997. Scroll around and search here. First Volvo replaced the door panels, then they exchanged and actually rebuilt the panels, then they sent kits to the dealers so the poor tech could do it...or screw it up completely in the process, which was usually the case. Now they're just slapping hard plastic inserts in? Wow!

    I've had mine replaced once by the dealer in warranty, and once by myself, out of warranty. Not critical to the function of the car, but I was getting annoyed every time I looked at it.
