changing the oil S70 1999

Hi, I am in the process of changing the oil on my 1999 Volvo S70. What type of oil / brand is recommended? Anything that I need to watch out for before I start? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use Mobil1 full synthetic and a Mann filter (buy online at fcpgroton.com by the case). Do not use a cheap oil filter such as STP or FRAM they don't have the valve that keeps oil up and ready to flow as soon as the engine starts. You can also use non-synthetic oil as long as you change it every 3000 miles. I use 10W30 as I live in a hot climate but 5W30 is also recommended by Volvo.

Two items, full synthetic and a Mann oil filter. That's what is important. Depending on where you live, 5W or 10W30 should be correct. Flush the oil with a "warm" engine and use an aluminum crush washer. 6 quarts should be enough.
