environment's involvement w/ performance 850 1997 GLT TURBO

Regarding gas mileage and engine performance, does the external environment play a significant role in it? i.e. humidity, temp, dust, ect... and if so, why and how?

Thnks.

    Re: environment's involvement w/ performance 850 1997 GLT TURBO

Yes, most notably humidly and temp. Just to give you an idea, on a cool moist day I can run 20 psi with no ping or problems. Same tank of fuel when its over 90º I am lucky to see 14 psi. So your talking around a 30hp difference. Turbo and Supercharged cars feel the effects of heat more then NAs do. Cold air is a lot denser.

It's all in the air density. All other factors add up to increase or decrease this. Temp, altitude, humidity...
