tune up question

For my volvo 850 non-turbo, I am going to replace the distributor cap and rotor and put in new plugs. I see FCP sells ignition wire sets--my engine has 170K (plugs, cap, rotor changed about 20K miles ago) on it and I haven't ever replaced the ignition wires but have no indication that I need to do so... All thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Some people replace the plugs at 48K, cap/rotor at 96K, and wires some time around 175-200K. The wires have week/year created stamped on them.

When the wires start gounding to the block and causing "strange" misfires, the only way to figure it out is to run the engine at night with the VOLVO cover off the engine. Getting new wires every 10-12years is not a heavy expense!!
