Re: Sunroof S70 98

tilt the roof up, look in from the top and see if there isn't a piece of plastic that has dislodged along the slider and is preventing it from sliding backwards. It did on mine. I pulled the plastic trim piece out, ground down the section that got bent and replaced it. Been working for several years since.

good luck

Re: Sunroof S70 98

Do you hear the motor running when you try to slide it back?

The glass needs to come down a bit before sliding back. Does it even come down a bit?

It will open to the vent position. Then it will close air tight, then if you try and open it the window will crack just enough so you can hear wind whistling but not even really see that it is open.

Check the archives. I know there's a fix for it in there.

Re: Sunroof S70 98

The Haynes manual is clear that sunroofs are a real bugger to fix - I suggest you go to a dealer first, in case any DIY makes a very expensive problem.

Re: Sunroof V70-XC70 98

Before you go traipsing off to a dealer, check to make sure that one of the black trim panels on the inside edges of the glass haven't detached themselves and thus block the way of the sunroof coming down.

This has happened several times on my '94. At first I would snap them back in place (they just snap in), but I finally just gave up. All they do is make it so you don't see the tracks from the inside, and I'd rather have a consistently working sunroof than no-see-um tracks.

If your dealer is nice, the service writer will probably check this issue first to make sure that's not the problem. But if you can check for it and save yourself the inconvenience, so much the better!
