My mechanic and the dealer are unable to located where to change this filter. It is a scheduled maintainence item in my manual. Any idea where it goes?

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

David, I dont care too much if you take off the wiper blade or not(BTW: you dont have to), but you NEED to find a new dealer service dept ASAP.

You will find out these cars need very good techs...and very very good dealer service depts to make the ownership more of a fun thing!

If you let a bunch on monkeys work on your car, you will not get things fixed on the frst try at a fair price, and your matainance should be done by people who know what their looking at...and looking for.

Follow Sins directions and if you'd like a picture of what he said the link below has pics under pollen filter replacement.

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

You have a VERY inept dealership.

You need a set of torx drivers.

- open the hood

- on the passenger side, near the firewall and strut tower, there will be a flat section with two torx screws on it

- remove them

- lift the panel

- remove old filter if you have one

- install new filter

I don't know what the other guy is saying about removing wiper arms. I've done mine twice now, and I've never had to do anything else but what I just described.

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

you need to remove them on the 850 to get to the cabin air intake (at least my '95) I wouldn't be surprised if that was updated design-wise on the later models to not require pulling the wiper arms off

No you don't. Trust me. I have a 94'.

I know the route you/your mechanic is taking to get to the filter, and I'm telling you right now, it's not the right route.

Try what I described to David Rulifson. I bet you will find that you will find access to the air filter.

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

Sin's right...

I just received a new one from IPD and it took me less than 3 minutes at night with a flashlight. This is what I discovered to be the problem when my A/C kept kicking off and giving alarms.... replace them frequently especially in dusty climates....

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

OK, I remember like it was only two months ago - to change the bracket to mount the filter I had to pull the cowl almost all th way off (and remove the wiper arm) The filter itself though is much easier to reach/change...

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

I'll look tomorrow when it's light out the route I ineptly describe is what was on the directions that came with the filter housing...

I did it not that long ago...

could it be different for the ones from the factory and the ones added later...

I'm almost reaching for my flashlight

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

I don't think it is a matter of factory or oe after dilvery. It's the same part number.

Don't get me wrong, your method probably works great. It's just unecessary.

Re: Interior air filter S70 98

on my 850 the cabin air filter I fitted (dealer accessory) in on the passenger side under the cowl (you need to remove the wiper arms and some torx screws to get to it)

I find it hard to believe the dealer didn't know where it is though...

there are 2 possible filters (I saw here) one is a paper filter, one is paper + charcoal

Re: Interior air filter V70-XC70 98

I'm with Sin on this one ... you can flex the cowl over enough to work the old filter out and the new filter in. Removal of the wiper arms is unnecessary.
