Volvo AWD 850 Forum

I'm at 280k on the original clutch (98 V70) - no signs of a problem to date. I would be interested in knowing what symptoms an impending clutch failure gives.

Not so much slipping as shuddering when engaging 1st. Also the squeal of the throw out bearing might make the end sound close.

Multiple drivers tend to hurt clutch life as much as stop and go driving.

'95 854 184K miles original clutch will still burn a tire. :-)

Depends on the driver. Some report 180K miles and others over 225K miles and still using the original clutch.

If you get the clutch replaced, replace the rear main seal at that time.
