Best Antifreeze/Coolant ? C70 99

What is the best antifreeze/coolant for

our vehicles.

Brand and model.

Winter is almost here.

Thanks,

RD

    Re: Best Antifreeze/Coolant ? C70 99

I'm sticking with Volvo coolant for now, although it costs a bit more (about 2x the price of Dexcool). I think the key difference from standard off the shelf stuff is:

    1) Phosphate free (True for Dexcool, but not 2 year type antifreeze)

    2) Additives to control the pH and keep it high. This can be purchased separately. For example, Griot's p/n 11181 for $14.95. Not sure how this compares to the Volvo additive.

In general, I've found that the Volvo branded parts, although expensive, are very good. Besides, if that's good enough for Irv, it's good enough for me :)

    Later,

    Ted

If you change it often its all about the same. I prefer Prestone 15/5. I run a 70/30 mix down here in FL.

If your car is still under waranty, use the Volvo coolant, (not LEGALLY required, but less hassle).

If past warranty, then I like the orange DexCool type products. I like and use Prestone orange 150K extended juice. (I'm sorry I don't remember the shelf name)
