Has anyone had positive or negitave results when they put seafoam in the oil. I have 290,000 miles on my S70, and it smokes a little after I stop at a light for an extended amount of time. I thought this may help a little???

The more I learn, the more I forget. So why learn?

Smoke at idle is usually a symptom of weak valve seals. At idle there is a higher vacumn, so it pulls the oil better past the seals. Not sure any additive can help since it is a mechanical thing.

Bad!!! Very very bad. I put SeaFoam in my 940 turbo's oil. Ran the car at idle for about 10 minutes then went a round the block a few times. Came back and changed the oil. Not even a month later, my 6 month old 13c was dead. Just run it through the intake and the gas tank.

I am going to disagree with you to a point. I have used sea foam in the oil. It did not fix the issue, however it also did not hurt the motor at all. I did run straight K1 kerosene in place of the oil which helped a bit(but still did not magically fix the broken check valve that I discovered several thousand miles and one sheared cam shaft later). I NEVER, EVER load a motor that is running anything other than motor oil in the crank case! Rev it up? Sure, UNDER 2500 RPM.

So to answer the question. YES, SeaFoam is fine. DO NOT drive with it!!

Thanks for all the responses. I think I will hold off with it in the oil. It has 285,000 miles on it now, and I kind of expect some smoke.
