car starts runs for one second and shuts off. Always start eventually. change the 103 fuel pump relay did not make a differance.

We just purchased the car it has 56k miles on it and the transmission does not always shift the way it should we had it service but it is almost like it gets confused.

The symptoms you describe sound like a immobilizer antenna ring failure(part of the alarm system). Try using a different key if your used car came with more than 1 set of keys. Also, after the car doesn't start, do you take the key out and then re-insert it? If you just leave it in after the car dies and try to start it and it just cranks and cranks, but never starts, its likely the immobilizer ring failure.

The dealer is the only one who can fix this and your keys and remotes will have to be reprogrammed.

The immobilizer ring itself can be replaced DIY. It is just an antenna and does not require reprogramming.

You could try slamming the hood shut. Sometimes the security system thinks the hood is up and the alarm system interprets that as forced entry.
