Radiator replacement 850 1993

Does anyone know of a good site containing info about changing out the radiator in an 850 with AT? Also, any info on parts websites/stores to get the radiator? Mine has started to leak and after checking around the local shops, I am definitely going to do this myself. The dealer wants approx $335 for the part and then 2 hours of labor ($80/hr), not incl coolant and disposal fees. The best radiator price I found was $198 (I had one shop qoute me $428 for the part/$600+ for the whole job!!!)

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks.

    Re: Radiator replacement 850 1993

Although not "cheap" price wise, the Volvo OEM radiators are actually very good radiators and last a long time w/o problems, unless you drive over and hit something, breaking off a plastic side tank support (common).

Your OEM radiator lasted you about 9 yrs and 150K miles, not bad really. The aftermarket radiator might cost less initially but if it leaks shortly after its parts warranty expires, you'll be SOL. Just a thought.

There's some things that I just won't go cheap on and radiators are one of them. I don't like being stranded on the X-way leaking coolant, usually never at a "good" time either.

      Glen,

Good point here. From your comment I take it that you've bought, or had experience with, Volvo replacement radiators. My dealer told me that he'd seen some cars come in with complete metal radiators but he didn't know where they came from. Any ideas?

      Thanks.
