2000 S70,dead battery,possible ingition switch problem?

Yesterday after work the key became stuck in the ignition. After jiggling it for a minute or 2 it came out. It still did not move as freely as it usually does. I put some graphite inside and it seemed to loosen it up quite well this morning however, the warning bell continued to sound as if I had opened the car with the key in the igitnion. The battery was dead this morning also. Is it time for a new ignition switch? If so how difficult are they to install?

Thanks,

Mike

The keyed portion of the switch is installed with break off screws and locktite. The screws have to be drilled out. A corded drill is needed, the battery type will drain before the hole is made. A 45degree bit will make things easier.
You will also need a trip to the dealer for new key programming. The lock must be ordered from Sweden, through the dealer.

A dead battery will cause all of the other symptoms. I suggest trickle charging the battery, with both cables disconnected, about 24 hours. And then play it by ear.
