Front end noise V70-XC70 2000

HEllo all,
1) My 2000 XC is having a odd noise coming from the front end. It is for sure coming from some rotating part. The noise gets louder and changes pitch with speed. It also nearly goes away with a left turn. Gets louder with a right turn. Sounds like a wheel bearing to me but I just had that checked tonight and they said it was fine. I changed the inner tie rods yeasterday and took it in for new tires and an alignment today. I thought that it may have been just badly out of alignment but that did not do anything for the sound. I did have this noise before the tie rods by the way.

2) What type of electrical circuits are there in the torque converter. I am getting a code for torque converter electrical circuit. My trans is shifting a little funny.

Thank you as always,
Ken

#2.) There are solenoids for the tranny, one for the torque converter. These can be replaced.

#1.)
Does the noise go away when you shift to N? Roll down all 4 windows to help determine where the noise is coming from. I will drive down my local highway which has a center barrier to better hear the sounds echoing off of it.

If it is not a wheel bearing, check your rotor temperature for a stuck caliper. And, when was the last time you flushed the bevel gear.

Speaking of awd, is the heatshield resting on the prop shaft?

Ken,
Klaus will no doubt have the definitive answer but it sure sounds like a whl bearing to me. Same symptoms on my wifes XC 6 months when we changed front bearings & then 3 months ago had to change the rears. Little pricey but the car now now drives like a dream again.
