Dash Lights 850 94

The bulbs that illuminate the LCD display below the speedo have blown. Is it an easy job to replace these?

There is a post at the below link that will tell and show you how to change the bulbs, check out the post, takes about 15 minutes.

Re: Dash Lights 850 94

Dave,

Easy?...Yes, but time consuming...the entire dashboard has to be removed which consists of about a dozen screws found at the instrument panel, either ends of dash, under the speaker grills (which have to be popped off)and at some of the air vents. There is a bulb kit which includes all the bulbs needed for the instrument panel. Dealers usually replace ALL the bulbs when asked to replace a bulb burnt out. After you have gone to the trouble of replacing the bulb (bulbs), dim the panel slightly and you won't be replacing bulbs for a very long time. I got tired of replacing bulbs all the time, because I like my dash lit at 100%. Since dimming it to say around 90%, I havn't replaced a bulb since. And it's been a very long time (two years maybe).

Re: Dash Lights 850 94

My mechanic is always harping at me to turn my lights to the "off" position during the day (results in lights on -- dash lights off) He has said I would not be happy with the repair bill to change a bulb as described above! I try to remember when I can -- also the tip about reducing the brightness is a good one! Mine is a 95 850, but I suppose the lights are the same....
