Drivers seat motor, SRS bag in seat? S70

Hi,

I drove My T5 about 600 miles this week. First I need to fix my drivers seat motor or switch.

1. How do I disconnect the side airbag while I'm working on the seat? Other than disconnecting the batter? I need the battery to test the motor and switch, after I check the fuses.

2. how do I get at the motor or control switch in the car, or do I need to pull the seat?

Regards

Woody

What year is it, it makes a difference. Do any of your memory buttons work? Which switch doesn't work? There are 4 separate motors under the seat.

The seat air bag is on the upper side of the seat, behind the SRS lable. It is activated by a collision button under the cover housing the seat switches. You do not have to disconnect the battery, just don't hit the button with a hammer or drop the seat if you take it out of the car.

Until 2001, the side cover for the seat switches pulls up on the front and then pushes back to come off. Inside the cover is a small red plastic thing which can be placed behind the large button to keep the button from depressing and setting off the seat bag.

      Hi Klaus!

It is a 1998 S70 T5. I'm going to play with the Memory switches tomorrow. 4 motors, what is the function of each motor.? I was thinking it might be like this
      1 motor up/down
2 motor in out to dash
      3 motor seat back
      4 motor seat bottom tilt.

All being reversed with a pair of 87A type Bosh relays.

So did i get it right? If not I'd appreciate your input!

      Thanks
      Woody

Good car! One motor moves front seat cushion up/down, another moves rear seat cushion up/down. The rest is correct.

Probably just a switch problem. And that is a problem! Those little micro switches have very tiny springs that will fall out when you take it apart! It is better to just get another seat switch assembly from a junk yard. 3 torx screws to get it out. And no danger about the air bag in the seat going off. That large button takes a good beating before it goes off.

My front/back button died on my 1998, well it worked on odd numbered full moons. It failed to go forward for the most part, so my 5'3" daughter's memory position was used to make it go forward.

Drivers seat motor, SRS bag in seat diagnosed! Now AC problem S70

          Hi Gang
Klaus you had it right, it has to be the switch. Motor works in both directions
Using the memory buttons. I also set the present seat position to #1 before I moved it. And can work from there. One of these days I'll try some junk yards for another switch.

Now I have another Issue with a running but not cooling AC. After I search the forum for AC info I'll start a new thread on that issue.

          Regards
