Power Steering Fluid S60 2006

Question to all:

Owners manual calls for Petrosin CHF 11S. No replacement interval is noted.

Aftermarket supplier is offering Petrosin CHF 202 and recommending, "Power Steering Fluid should be changed every two years. With dirty power steering fluid in your Volvo, it may lead to premature failure of the power steering pump and rack."

Comments please.

Thanks.

RStuart

Ahh, change the engine oil every 3K miles regardless of driving conditions or oil type. Change the PS fluid every 2 years?? That is a new one for me, every 5 years sounds pretty good to me but, I seldom work the PS pump hard and park in a garage where the temperature extremes are not present.

I would NOT mix PS fluids just because a particular supplier doesn't carry the type required by the manufacturer. If you cannot find it locally for a better price at some auto parts stores, go to a VW, BMW, Volvo dealer and spend $20 for a liter or less for a top off bottle.

Check the color of your PS steering fluid, the replacement fluid should be the same. and check out this whole thread I foud via Google:
