How long can I leave my PCV unserviced. 850

I have to replace my pcv and flametrap. There is an oil leak from the rear cam. Also puffs of smoke from the dipstick if I remove it with the engine runnning. I want to wait until the week after Christmas. About 2000 KM's.

Will it be OK?

HA HA

My horoscope says I will spend more on the 850 than I did on my old 88 240 wagon.

Maybe this could be my issue. Seems that a vacuum line was broken this could cause the pcv system not working? Not sure.

LOL

That is a mess! That will not cause overpressurization in the crankcase, it will just screw up the entire air metering system for your car. By all means, fix that vacuum line before you go anywhere.

The other 2 nipples on the vacuum tree should either be hooked up to vacuum lines or covered by a plug to keep them closed.

If you are not going to replace the PCV system soon, don't drive hard. Keep the engine rpm's under 3K, closer to 2K if you can. In other words, baby it.

If you do your own maint, it takes a good 5 hours to replace the oil separator, a mechanic that knows Volvos can do it in 2/3 hours.

I have to wait until I can get the torx screw from the fuel rail off. Seems to be seized.

Load up your trunk with a case of oil and have at it. Sounds like your going have to replace some seals in the near future and the pressure might be escaping from you one bad seal now. If it lets loose, your going to have a smelly mess you won't be able to ignore. I would check the oil level every 100 miles on a long trip......You might have starting problems too with oil fouling up your cam sensor. I'm not sure oil will do this, but it might.

You can check your flame trap to see if it's clogged........if it is, just remove it. If you want to keep the plastic ones in place, I would replace them every 5K miles in the future. Flame trap housings get very brittle over time, you might want to pick up a new one. Search ebay......some guy sells a kit there for about 10 bucks.

The problem is that the oil separator and the hoses that go to it get jammed up. You need to replace the oil separator and the hoses. You need to take the intake manifold off to do this. For me, this is a shop job, especially this time of year. Not real cheap.

Check your oil level all the time for now.

Cant get the fuel rail off the fuel line. 850

The torx is seized. Maybe wait until the Pblaster can take effect. I'll try and blow compressed air into the lines and force it clean. I'm not convinced that its plugged.
