Headlights failing S60

Any idea why both headlights would fail after being replaced 2 days prior? Anybody had a problem like this?

Headlights failing - who installed and how was it done? S60

Did you (he/she) touch the bulbs with bare hands?

The originals were done at a Volvo dlr so I have to assume they were wearing gloves. Yes, I thought of that also. Thanks

Headlights failing - I suggest you ask them to replace gratis S60

If a dealer replaced the bulbs, I'm sure they will replace them for free considering the first group only lasted 2 days. Also ask them to check voltage.

When the 1998-2000 V70 and S70 cars were new, people complained about headlight bulbs failing. So Volvo invented a circuit that lowered the voltage a bit. It was a wiring connector placed between bulb and harness. A byproduct was lower light output. I use Philips VisionPlus bulbs, which last for years, so I took the goofy voltage-lowering circuit out of my V70.

How about a bad voltage regulator? .... S60

If your voltage regulator has failed, the high current in your system could cook your filaments (as well as your electronics). Have you used a VOM to measure system voltage when the engine is reved to normal driving rpm (idle rpm may not reveal a problem) -- I know the battery is in the trunk (at least in later models), but you can check the 12 v. socket in the passenger compartment while you step on the gas pedal.

my first guess would be that whoever installed the bulbs touched the glass with their fingers. That will wreck a halogen bulb pretty quickly :)

Also, if you find your car is sensitive to this kind of thing you should try installing bulbs in pairs.
