'95 850 Turbo Heater Core leak in cabin 850 1995

Does a Heater Core leak in the cabin automatically mean that it needs to be replaced? The heater seems to work just fine...

It works just fine because there is a lot of coolant running through the core at all times. A small pin hole will leak plenty of fluid.

Easy enough to check, just pull off the kick panel on the driver's side and take a look. To remove the core the kick panel on the passenger side also needs to be removed. The O rings will need to be replaced if you replace the core. A fairly easy DIY, less than 2 hours.

Perhaps the in or outflow hoses and or hose clamps are leaking. Probably not though. Might as well have it replaced if something is leaking over there. Coolant vapors lead to bloody noses and headaches and eventually- blindness.

Or maybe the O-ring needs to be replaced.

I've never had to replace the heater core in my 94, but either good luck or changing the coolant every couple years has saved me this chore. Right- there are no hose clamps involved.

Looked up the parts to do the whole job:

        Heater core 145.00 (behr)
Inlet and outlet hoses 125.00 (oem)
        Oring/snapring Kit 35.00
Some little 60 degree pipe 3.00
        Hose mounting bracket 2.00
New radiator coolant when your done 30.00
