no brake lights 850

Hello All,

New issue with the 855- no brake lights
My rear center stoplight had a bad bulb for a while, and when it was time for a full brake job I bought some bulbs.

I popped in the new light and it worked great, prior to this all my lights worked aside from the bad bulb.

took it for inspection and no brake lights?

Is this due to not properly bleeding the brakes, is it a short caused by the center taillight, did the peddle switch just die out?!

Any and all advise welcome!

Cheers,

The lights have nothing to do with brake fluid. If the bulb failure light for brakes does not come on, then I suspect the brake pedal switch. You need to check things with a volt meter.

When you push on the brakes does your bulb failure indicator light up on the dash?

    Do your turn signals work?

Take the bulb out of the center brake light and see what happens. My first impression is you have a dual filament bulb......

      Thanks Folks!

I'll get the voltmeter out... dual filament bulb... maybe?
The signals work, prior to replacing the center bulb all lights worked.

My first thought was improper brake bleeding didn't allow for enough pressure to build up in order to engage the pedal switch.

      Thanks!

I think the 122 was the last model that had a brake pressure light switch :) All current switches are pure electric and at the pedal.

Ahh, yes, one of the few things I don't miss! After several replacements, I think I installed a microswitch on the brake pedal.
