Manual Xmission available V70-XC70 1998R

I know they were made for somewhere in the world, but has anyone actually seen a manual transmission in a V70R AWD in Canada, please? 1998 or 9?

Anyone seen one for sale...?

Manual Xmission available V70-XC70

A call to Volvo Sweden (VCNA was no real help at all) yieled that the AWD car with manual transmision was never type certificated for the US market. It would be a problem getting the car into the country. I've asked Volvo Sweden to check into getting certificated, as many people I've seen here and on other board have shown an interest. If you want the AWD or XC with a manual tranmission, sent your comments to GCR@volvocars.com. If we bludgen then enough, maybe they will stop listening to the marketing yahoos and start listening to the customer!

Manual Xmission available V70-XC70

I'm looking for an AWD or XC with Manual Transmission. VCNA hasn't been very helpful in telling me why I can't have one. Some weak answers about there being a strong demand for the Geartronic, and differences in programming and parts. I've even called Volvo in Sweden and asked them to look into it. Seems as if the 'one or two per dealer per year' isn't quite as accurate as they would like to believe. As to the backfire problem someone wrote about earlier, there would seem to be the same problem for the other cars Volvo makes with a manual transmission, and they get certified. Why not an AWD V70 or XC? Use of the cell phone is the weakest reason I've seen yet if it came from VCNA(I'm assuming that is part of the reasoning given by a dealer). You should not be talking on a cell phone and driving at the same time(unless it is a hands-free system, and even then consideration should be given to keeping the call short and pulling over).

It is time that those of us who want a manual speak up and make VCNA offer this option.

There were ZERO manual V70Rs imported into Canada for the 1998 & 1999 Model Years. It was only available with the AW42AWD tranny.

Not unless it was shipped from overseas...

Re: Manual Xmission available V70-XC70 1998R

Hi,

I have a 98 AWD V70 5 speed and we have a whole group who have these cars. We all like the 5 speed box and feel that it might offer some longevity over the auto box and is also a lot more fun to drive.

Regards,

Darryl

Oh, I know about those cars. I just did not know of a manual "R" car ever been imported to Canada. The only manual V70Rs I have ever seen are one in Sweden and one in Greece (which I drove).
