Does anyone know the location for the OBD II connector for this vehicle?

Thanks!

The 2000 was in the center armrest. The P2 cars moved it to under the dash on the far left side close to the hood release.

OBDII Connection Location V70-XC70 2001

THANK YOU! Just after I posted this, I found a picture (on the internet) showing the location. Best regards.

But don't go too far...I need help with the codes. We are experiencing tranny problems. It started with the bucking 2-3 shift. We did take the car to the dealer the first time we felt the classic thud. After a software update and a pat on the back, we continued to have the problem. Again, we went back, but there was no lasting resolution. Then, when shifting from 2 to 3, the engine would race, then drop into 3rd. Now, many miles later, no 3rd gear at all.

I just pulled 2 codes: P0740 and P0785

Prior to erasing codes, the message area read, "TRANSMISSION SERVICE REQUIRED"

Mileage: 175K
2.4L Non-Turbo

Engine runs well, low-no oil consumption, but at 800 rpm idle a "NO OIL PRESSURE ..." message appears randomly. Over 850 rpm, the message is gone. VERY concerned about this one.

Thanks in advance.

Check out IPD USA for a transmission device 20-30 dollars that is supposed to stop "Flaring". It sounds like your are experiencing this. Have you flushed your trans with New fluid??

To find the standard Pnnnn definitions, look here:

Your 2 tranny codes show that the software upgrade didn't do diddly squat. The P0785 is the real problem: Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction. These solenoids can be replaced for a fee.

With that many miles, I suspect that the O rings on the bottom of the oil pan need to be replaced. Not a fun job, there is no oil pan gasket as RTV is used instead and there are lines in the way while dropping the pan. The O rings are cheap, but at least 2 hours of labor is involved.

You are using synthetic oil and an OEM filter?

Transmission (AW55-50) Problems V70-XC70 2001

KlausC,

I am using OEM filter and Volvo ATF. The tranny and engine have no leaks. ATF does not appear to be burned or smelly. I have read many accounts of this transaxle requiring software updates, B-4 Servo cover replacement, a valve body change, solenoid replacements, combinations of the previous, or complete transaxle replacement. Yesterday, I ordered the servo cover from the dealer and plan on installing it next week. If it helps or corrects the problem -- cheap fix! If not, I will go for the solenoid, about $30 for the part, but I do not know where it located. I located a low mileage (35K) 2006 AW55-50 in Arizona for $1400 + freight. From what I have read, rebuilding is not recommended...simply replace it. What are your thoughts on all of this?

Thank you!

2001 was not the best year, so your plan of attack is a good one. Make sure you get a can of electrical cleaner and clean any plugs you find under the servo cover.

I also do not recomend a rebuild on any auto tranny. I would rather buy a newer car for that money.
