Unique coolant or power steering fluid needed in S40? S40-V40

I'm driving my sister's S40 (it's either a 2000 or 2001 - made in Oct 2000) cross-country tomorrow and need to:

- add coolant
- power steering fluid.

There's no manual in the car.

Are the above fluids unique, or can I get off-the-shelf brand?

    The PS fluid is just ATF. Use Dexron III or Mercon - it's the same that goes in the automatic transmission.

    The manual says "Volvo Coolant Only." If it was me, I'd use regular ethylene glycol. Volvo does not make their own coolant and since it didn't recommend long-life, I'd assume that regular coolant is fine. That's my opinion though.
