reverse warning service required on an xc90 XC90 2003

Hi all,
New member here. I have a 03 xc90 d5 auto. for the past couple of weeks the reverse alarm was intermittant working fine one day,constant beep the next.
now I have reverse warning service req. lit on the dash and the system has shut down.
I have noticed a mark/dent on one of the sensors,there may even be a slight crack on the lens. could this be my problem?.
Or does anyone have any ideas?. ny advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Sounds like someone tapped your sensor and broke it. Too many rude people who park by ear!

    Replace the sensor and all will be well. Unfortunately, you might have to remove the bumper cover to get to it, which is a real pain.

    Too bad they don't sell D5 engines in the USA.
