98 v70, Blincker problem V70-XC70

A friend has a 98 V70. The turn signals operate imtermittently. When working both sides operate. When not working, neither left or right signals work.
I am not familar with this year volvo, but I assume there is a relay someplace to pull and clean the pins, etc. If so, where is it located?? The book and looking in the fuse book didn't reveal anything....
Thanks for the help. Art

The flasher relay is imbedded in the 4 way triangle switch in the center of the dash, which I always hit with a knuckle when shifting into park!

See what else is on the same fuse, and when the turn signal doesn't work check the rear view mirrors(850). My 850 used to do that because the fuse holder was loose. Bending the fuse lightly fixed the problem.

If you determine that the flasher switch has failed and must be replaced, the Volvo part number is 8628632. It cost $69 at my dealer in 2004.

Also available at Swedish Auto Parts for $66.99 : http://www.swedishautoparts.com/V70/volvo-v70-switches.html

And at IPD for $54.90: http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S70V70-1998-2000/Electrical/Hazard-Flasher-Switch/p-128-363-4864/

And there is always your local salvage yard.
