My wife drove my car yesterday about 10 mins to the drug store. When she went to start the car it wouldn't start. After trying several times it finally started but ran very rough and the check engine light came on. After about a minute it began to run smooth again and the check engine light went out. I checked for fault codes but none were stored.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The RPM sensor has a tendency to be intermittent. You can check the OHM reading at the plug, it is located just under the distributor cap on a plug mounted to a bracket. The sensor is bolted w/a 10 mm bolt to the top of the engine block but hidden under tubing. The OHM reading should be between 500 and 1000 Ohms.
Good luck!!! RK

The CEL probably was caused by a misfire on one cylinder, which goes away after the misfire goes away. Time to check the plugs, wiring and rotor.

I'll take a look. I don't think they've ever been changed.

The camm rotation sensor may be going bad. Mine did that for a couple of months before it finally quit.
