Testing EVAP purge valve V70-XC70 1998

Greetings! Anyone know how I can test EVAP purge valve using ohm meter?
I don't like the idea of putting car battery power to it directly to see if it clicks or not...
Also, inside this valve there is what appears to be an adjustemnt screw.
Should I leave it alone, or try adjusting it?

It is not 12V, you might want to take a "C" battery to check the operation. No, do not adjust it if you do not know what you are adjusting.

I just sprayed mine with carb cleaner, a lot, to get all of the black junk out so the valve would no longer stick.

Testing EVAP purge valve V70-XC70 1998

Hello, I need help nailing down the location of my 2002's EVAP purge valve. This valve is one probable cause of my 0442 code. Is it the small black plastic block(1"x 1"x .5") which is mounted dead center on the radiator's upper support or is it the thing with the two vacuum hoses and electric plug on the fan's cage, 3" from the top transmission cooling line? If it's either one of these, what is the other? Both have vacuum lines going to the left (driver's) side of the intake manifold. The ports for those 2 vacuum lines are vertically arranged 1.5" apart. The vacuum line coming from the black block is covered with a woven chafe relief. I confess, I haven't peeled back the fender liner of my right rear wheel to check my "J" hose yet. Thanks, Kira

Kira,

The EVAP purge valve has a line going to the charcoal cannister below the battery. I am not sure about the newer P2 cars, Volvo tends to move things with out reason, but the older 850/70 cars located the relay on the driver's side of the fan support.

Do check the rear wheel arch, it is the worst offender of the p0442.
