Tailgate / Cargo Area Light 850 97R

To all,

I have a 97 850R wagon with 54K miles. Just tonight, I noticed that the cargo area light won't go out when the gate is closed. Where is the switch that controls the light's operation when the gate is opened and closed?

Are there any suggestions for trouble shooting why it won't go off? I turned the manual switch to off (the one that is right next to the light), and that will work for now, but I'd like to fix it if it's easy.

Kyle,

we had the same situation on my wife's 855. Talked to the Volvo dealer, he told me that the switch is part of the rear lock mechanism in the tailgate and failures are not uncommon. He said it isn't available seperateley, you have to buy the complete lock assembly.

I decided to leave it like it is, and use the manual switch for now.

Thanks for your help. Electrical problems are really annoying becayuse they are intermittent. The light works again for some reason now. Maybe I'll just let it go for now if it's a big cost.
