Wheel Spacers? (With New Photo) C70 1998

I've called and visited a lot of places here in St. Louis and had no luck finding a proper set of volvo wheels in anything approaching my price range. I did manage to find a very nice and affordable set of 17" Jaguar S-Type Wheels in the proper bolt pattern for only $100.00.
I also replaced the "hole-punched" hood for just $25.00

Compared to this:

The improvement in appearance is significant.

Unfortunately, The 63.6mm hub bore of the Jaguar wheels keeps these from seating safely on my hubs (Which is just as well, because the deep well and wide tires cause the driver's front wheel to rub the strut tube.

So, either I can re-sell these wheels or I can find some spacers. For the front, the wheels need to be set out a 1/4" With a change that large, should I get simple spacers, or go for those chunky ones with the extra set of lugs?

The second option seems like a slightly better solution for structure and stability and would keep my rotors from sliding around on the hubs. However, too wide and the suspension geometry will be screwed up.

Any recommendations here? I don't want the car to look idiotic, but those Arelli wheels have got to go and I simply can't afford four new Volvo wheels at $200.00/hub plus tires.

    Wow! those look great!
I Googled 5 hole wheel shims, and got many results:

You'd have to find the offset you need, but it looks very doable and for like $50
    Good Luck

Also found this entering "How to add wheel shims Volvo" looks good
Sits against the rotor and gives you new lug holes -clever
look like more money though but with what you saved on the wheels...

Those are some handsome looking wheels! At $100 for the set paying for spacers doesn't sound too bad. After doing some searching, 42mm is the best number I could find for an offset for S-type wheels, but the info sounded iffy. Assuming that is correct, then I'd say those wheels must be wider than anything Volvo had in mind.

If you go the route of extra lug spacers be mindful that the extra width may start to get your tires into trouble with fender wells over large bumps and heavy loads. From that standpoint thin 1/4" spacers sound preferable except that the lugbolts will have that much less thread engagement. I'm sure worse things have been done, but I won't advocate it. I never heard of longer lugbolts (but then I’ve never looked either).

Are the spacers you require available commercially or would it be a custom job? If the latter you could have the machinist make rings that fit over the hub to make up the difference between the hub and wheel center.

Very nice car. Best of luck with it.
