anyone heard of any problems with the ac drain clogging on a 97 V70?..what would be the worst case damage?..

The amount of water dripping depends on the humidity, not the temperature. With the introduction of the cabin air filter, leaves and twigs are now kept out of the system and the drain seldom clogs.
If water cannot get out of the AC, it will drain into the passenger side carpet and make for wet feet.
