2001 s60 with geartronic 2001

I tried to order an S60 2.4T with the geartronic 5 speed automatic transmission today, but was told that there is an unknown delay on the geartronic transmission. Does anyone know any details or projected dates for availability?

    Should be available in mid-November. Some type of parts delay should be resolved shortly. That car is worth a little wait. Great car!

    Guess what???

    I just glanced through this week's Autoweek, and they are reporting problems with suppliers at both Torslanda and Ghent which are resulting in major production delays.

    In reading the article, their description of the problems and factory slowdowns don't jibe with the delays that they mention. Like, a vehicle previously promised in 8 weeks will now take 20 weeks - doesn't make much sense. But I have never been able to understand why bonafide sold orders cannot take priority and be built quickly....

      That story is nonsense Roger, there are some minor delays but only with 2.4Ts and they will not take TWENTY weeks for an order.

    Hi

    I work at Volvo Torslanda (S80/V70) and what I have heard there is some problems with this gearbox (something about the oil), but they say that it will soon be availble. When? I dont know

      Is Volvo building 2001 V70 T5 at Ghent, Belgium and also at Torslanda?

      I am picking up a new T5 at Brussels, Belgium in late December. Would it be built in the Ghent factory?

        Roger, you have to look at your VIN to find out...if the 7th digit FROM THE END is a "2", then your car is built at Ghent. If it is "1" it is built in Torslanda.

        Most (if not all by now) V70s have been shifted for production at the Ghent plant.

        As far as what "Ovca" is reporting, I am not sure what he/she is talking about. My source there told me of no such thing being reported.

        The only thing that they are redesigning is the boot on the console to match EVENLY with the gear number selected. That can cause a small delay.
