CD Changer Problem C70 1999

Hi,
I have a 3-Disc CD changer in my 99 C70 and for some reason, the CDs are stuck and the screen is simply showing "CD Error." Please help. Thanks!

    CD Changer Problem C70 1999

If you are using burned CDs, they will probably be the cause for the jam. These early units did not like thin CDs.

You will need to take the radio unit out, remove the faceplate, remove the 3 disk cover and pull the jammed CD out.

Some units had a tiny button in the rear to push for eject, activated with a paperclip to push.

sorry to tell you but I'm pretty sure you'll need to pull the stereo apart to get the cd back.

Maybe time to start thinking about a new head unit?

      CD Changer Problem C70 1999

My 2004 C70 CD player began occasionally producing such an error. When this happened I would try the eject button a couple of times a day for a few days until it magically ejected. Come to think of it I may have been listening to burned CDs. My fix was to install a USA Spec iPod interface. Haven't tried a CD since!

Where did you get your USA Spec iPod interface? Mine burnt (or blew!) and I have not been able to find a replacement since :(

CD Changer Problem USA Spec iPod Adapter C70 1999

I purchased my USA Spec iPod adapter Fall 2009 from Enfig Car Stereo, Carlstadt, NJ online also can call 201-490-5015.
My car required the PA11-HON adapter ($130 with shipping) plus the Volvo adapter CBP-VOL ($34 with shipping.)My car has the SC-901 with in-radio 3 disc CD cartridge.
The radio is incredibly easy to remove. Just press in on the tabs on either side of the face plate and they pop out giving you tabs to pull on. Be sure your car sits for several minutes with everything turned off especially the heat/AC controls and then remove the negative battery cable.
When first installed, the adapter did not remember or recall where in my playlist I was when I turned the car off. The adapter unit worked fine just seemed not to keep power when shut down such that it would resume at the last song played. I worked with a very helpful tech at USA Spec several times. In the end, for whatever reason, when I reversed my two power wires ie yellow accessory and red battery the problem was solved (red to yellow and yellow to red.) I was sent a replacement unit which did the same. Don't know if this is a quirk with the car radio, the adapter cable or the USA Spec unit. It matters not, as the adapter works great and has for several months. I also installed an adapter in my V70 with no wiring challenges. Both work great!
