Trunk struts S70T, replacement S70

Hi,
It's time to replace the 2 struts for the trunk. I ordered them from FCP. My question is how do you uninstall the Car (front) end of the strut? Any tricks?

I assume that you pop the back end off the trunk hinge.

Regards

Woody

Hi Klaus,

Thanks for the reply.
By side panels do you mean the Rug covered material that lines the trunk? It has a big torx screw and latch pin for the seat fold dowm latch.

by the way it was 85 here today and beautiful sunny weather. are you getting hammered up there with rain?

Regards,

Woody

84F and not a cloud in the sky, light breeze to keep things from baking. I do have to work in the shade.

No, do not remove the seat latch and yes, pull out the side covers so that you can see what you are doing. The metal that the strut attaches to is close to the C pillar. Use a flashlight to get a better look.

The trunklid end comes off first.

After taking the side panels off, the current struts come off by levering them upwards. My arms are longer than yours, but be careful of sharp metal things that can cut forarms.
The new struts just get pushed down and snap on.
