2001 V70 Alarm has a mind of it's own V70-XC70 2001

The alarm on my wife's car has started to spontaneously set itself off. Sometimes both the horn and hazards go and sometimes just the hazards. There is no one around the car, door are locked and closed all the way.
What's going on here?

    Open the hood and let it fall shut. That is the most common cause. The change in the heat causes the metals to expand/contract to the point that a marginal contact will fail.
