NEW Cruise Control Question- S60

OK, if you read my recent posting (yesterday), it appeared that my Cruise was COMPLETELY dead on my new-to-me 2001 S60 T5.

Today I tried switching it on IMMEDIATELY after starting it, and lo and behold, I got a "CRUISE" text below the Trip Odometer, and the cruise control WORKED....

Perfectly, even!!!

For about 4 minutes, then the light went out, and it would not switch back on.

After coming from a store, I started the car again, and again, Cruise came on and worked perfectly...for about 4 minutes, then it went out, and cruise disengaged AGAIN, and no how would it come back on until I shut the engine down and re-started it!!

Does that sound like anything any of you have encountered before?

Any ideas?

Thanks-
Bob

Replaced the cruise control switch for the clutch (about 40 €) and everything is working fine again!

NEW Cruise Control Question- S60

I don't have any answers, only more questions. My son's '01 S60 is doing a similar thing. When the "cruise" light is off, he is also experiencing a "jerk" when he removes his foot from the accelerator and then re-applies it. It works fine when the "cruise" light is on. The ETM was replaced a few weeks ago. Can it be ETM/software related?

NEW Cruise Control Question- S60

You might also check the brake booster diagrphram position sensor. The dealer said this also affects cruise. It's mounted inboard of the brake fluid reservoir IN the booster itself with a circlip.

Before you replace it, try unplugging and re-plugging it. I started getting a code, so bought a new one ($98), then found that simply unplugging and replugging fixed the problem.

If you have an ohmmeter, check for the proper resistance as the plunger is moved. If memory serves, I think it's 50 ohms to 200 ohms, but I am not where I can verify that now.

Cruise Control switches off a few minutes after turning on engine S60 2001

I have exactly the same problem: the cruise control (and corresponding light in the dash)turns off after few minutes powering up the the engine. After restart of the engine same thing: CC on for few minutes and then lamp is off and cc is off. Cleaned the clutch CC switch, with no result.

Any ideas?

Cruise Control switches off a few minutes after turning on engine S60 2001

..to day I also saw that at the break pedal there is a switch. Very hard to reach for a lay man; but crawling under the dash I could reach it with some contact spray. No effect. The cruise control light turns off about one minute after engine start.
