Keyless Remote not working 850 1997

My keyless entry remote has stopped working suddenly. I have tried fresh batteries and the remote "chirps" when I press either button. This is a Volvo replacement unit to replace a lost one and is only 4 months old. It has not been dropped, stepped on, wet or even looked at funny to make it stop working. I also attempted to reprogram following the instructions in the owners manual also with no sucess. To add to the confusion the remote that my wife carries still works fine. I even tried swaping the batteries and mine still doesn't work and hers still does. I would appreciate any help on possible casues and repairs for this problem.

The dealer here wants $94 for each remote control.

Steve,

I also have a '97 850R with the exact same problem as you've described. Tried everything you have. The remote still chirps, good batteries and all. If you find out whats wrong, please email me at RaceMy850R@aol.com.

Re: Keyless Remote not working 850 1997

If the batteries are good (tested with a volt guage to be sure), the remote is properly re-programmed (usually not necessary when replacing batteries only) and the other remote still works (you are re-programming both together right ?, otherwise the other won't work), then....the remote is NG.
